Ruddigore, or The Witch’s Curse

July 20-21 and July 27-28, 2024

Cullen Performance Hall, University of Houston

Ghosts, curses, professional bridesmaids … oh, my!

Long ago, a witch cursed all of the Baronets of Ruddigore – each must commit some kind of a crime every single day, or die in terrible agony. Sir Ruthven, the current true Baronet, hides from this curse under the disguise of Robin Oakapple, living as a farmer while working up the courage to ask the beautiful village maiden Rose Maybud for her hand. In his place, his younger brother Despard assumed the title – and the curse. Betrayed by his foster-brother Richard, Robin is discovered – much to the consternation of his ancestors’ ghosts, who are not happy he has tried to shirk his title and his criminal responsibilities. Now, Robin must find a way to outwit his ancestors and the curse in order to live the honest life with the woman he loves.
