It is with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of our 2020 production of The Yeomen of the Guard. Given the current restrictions on public gatherings, and based on our own assessments, we have decided that it would be unreasonable and irresponsible to stage a production this summer. It is not a decision that was made easily or taken lightly. We have taken great pride in our ability to perform every summer, even in the most difficult times. We have faced hurricanes, financial crises, venue closures, and more, without the need to cancel a show. However, due to the restrictions in place and our inability to fly in Alistair Donkin, our stage director and principal performer, we decided it was best to hit the pause button on all of our plans and focus on the people we care about the most; our cast, crew, audience, and contributors.
The Board of Directors is weighing options for our 2021 production and we hope to have an announcement by mid-summer. We have informed the cast and crew and hope they are staying well during this pandemic. We have some exciting videos and virtual presentations in the works that we hope will tide you over until we can meet again in person.
While this certainly is not the way we wanted to see this summer go, we realize that we have a larger obligation to public health and the safety of all of you. Thank you so much for your continued support and being a part of our HGNS family. We wish you all the best in the coming year and hope to see you in the spring as we give this another go. In the meantime, if you have any questions for me, do not hesitate to email me at [email protected] and I will happily discuss any of this with you.
Best Regards,
